Association of the United States Army Scholarship: eligibility – students must have a parent who is currently a member of any active, guard or reserve component of the U.S. Army, a parent who served in the U.S. Army, Guard or Reserve, a student who participates in the High School Army JROTC program or a parent who currently works for a defense contractor or a defense agency; award – $1000.00 to $3000.00; apply on line at www.gatewayausa.org; deadline – March 9, 2012.

 

Missouri Insurance Education Foundation Scholarship: eligibility – students must be interested in or intending to pursue an insurance, risk management or actuarial science course of study in a Missouri college or university; applications available at www.mief.org; deadline March 31, 2012.

 

Missouri Society of Professional Surveyors, Robert V. Pirrie Memorial Scholarship: eligibility – student must plan to major in land surveying or a land surveying related field, accepted to an accredited college, junior college or university and  demonstrate leadership qualities; deadline March 31, 2012; applications available in the guidance office.

 

Scott Brownell Foundation Scholarship Program : eligibility – student must be an athletically active high school senior and submit an essay of 100 words or less describing the importance of sports and athletics, how they have impacted their life and how they will continue to impact their future; entries can be submitted to scottbrownellfoundation@yahoo.com; deadline is May 1, 2012.

Neighbors Credit Union My.Bux Teen Club Scholarship Program:  eligibility – must be a member of the Neighbors Credit Union My.Bux teen club (ages 13-19), if you are not a member you may open an account to qualify, students must fill out an application and write a short essay on a specific topic; applications are available at NeighborsCU.org; deadline – March 31, 2012.

Missouri Association for College Admission Counseling Scholarship: eligibility – student must be a graduating senior from a MOACAC member high school (Fox is a member) and the student must be enrolled full time in the fall of 2012 at a MOACAC member post-secondary institution; see your guidance counselor by March 5, 2012, to be considered.

 

Young American Creative Patriotic Art Awards: eligibility – students must be in 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grade; must submit entries to the VFW Ladies Auxillary Youth Activities Chair; application information available in the FHS guidance office; deadline is April 15th.

 

Buick Achievers Scholarship Program: eligibility – students must plan to enroll full time at a four year college or university in the fall of 2012 and major in a field of study that focuses on engineering, technology, design or business, with an interest in the automotive industry; apply on line at www.buickachievers.com; deadline in February 29, 2012.

Grants Available for High Scores on Math, Science Advanced Placement Exams

Jefferson City - A new grant is available for students who score well on advanced placement exams in math and science. The Advanced Placement Incentive Grant provides a one-time award of $500 for college-related expenses.

To be eligible for the grant, students must:

  • Achieve two grades of three or higher on Advanced Placement exams in the fields of math and/or science while attending a Missouri public high school.
  • Receive an award under the Access Missouri Student Financial Assistance Program or the A+ Scholarship Program in the academic year in which the Advanced Placement Incentive Grant is awarded. Students who are eligible for the Access Missouri or A+ Scholarship programs but have a calculated award amount of zero are eligible for the Advanced Placement Incentive Grant.
  • Submit a complete application for the Advanced Placement Incentive Grant.

Students must submit an Advanced Placement Incentive Grant application by June 1, 2012 for the 2011-2012 academic year. The application must include:

  • Certification of eligibility from the postsecondary school the student is attending.
  • A copy of the Advanced Placement Score Report from the College Board.

Awards are made directly to the postsecondary institution on the student's behalf.

Mid-East Missouri Contractors Association: eligibility – must be pursuing a degree in construction related field such as civil engineering, mechanical engineering or construction industry, must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above, high school transcript, class standing and national test scores will be considered; deadline – April 1, 2011; award - $1,500.00 for a university, half for the fall semester and half for the spring semester or $500.00 for a junior college, half for the fall semester and half for the spring semester; see guidance office for an application.

 

Career and Technical Education Scholarship: eligibility – students must major in career and technical programs (this would include Area Technical School (ATS) seniors currently enrolled in high school-level or college-level ATS programs, as well as other sending school seniors wishing to further their studies in a career and technical program as a full-time Jefferson College student and must have a 3.0 GPA and rank in the upper 50 percent of high school class; deadline – April 1, 2011: award – one half of tuition per semester; see guidance office for an application.

Missouri Natural Gas: eligibility – must be in upper ¼ of graduating class, must display citizenship and sportsmanship like qualities; deadline – March 31, 2011; award - $1,000.00; see guidance office for an application.

 

Missouri Teacher Education Scholarship-seniors who rank in the top 15% of the class or score a 27 or higher on the ACT who are going to major in education should apply for the $2,000 award by visiting www.dese.mo.gov 

 

Missouri Minority Teaching Scholarship-minority seniors who pursue a career in education that ranks in the top 25 percent of the class or has an ACT score that is in the 75th percentile or higher should apply for the $3,000. The application is online at www.dese.mo.gov.

 

Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship-seniors who have scored in the top 10% on the ACT are encouraged to apply for the $1,500 award. The application is available online at www.dese.mo.gov.

 

Urban Flight and Rural Needs Scholarship-for seniors going into the field of education who are willing to teach in a Missouri public school with a higher than average  "at-risk"  student population. Applications are online at www.dese.mo.gov.

 

Scholarships for Young Entrepreneurs-seniors who have owned/operated a business with at least one employee for one year. Apply online at www.mckelveyfoundation.org for the up to $40,000 award

 

Booth College of Business and Professional Studies Scholarship-competitive award for College of Business degree seeking seniors who will be attending Northwest Missouri State University. Go to

Girls Going Places Entrpreneurship Award-open to girls 12-18 who demonstrate entrepreneurship and community involvement. Award values range from $1,000-$10,000 for students submitting a personal statement of 250 words along with a letter of endorsement from an adult of 750 words. Ayn Rand Fountainhead Essay Contest-open to 11th and 12th grade students who complete an essay on Ayn Rand?s novel The Fountainhead. The $50-$10,000 is awarded to those who complete the 800 word competitive essay whose topics can be found at www.aynrand.org/contest.

 

Shane Voyles Memorial Scholarship-one senior from Fox can be nominated for the $500 award which is based on athletic, scholastic, and leadership qualities. Applicants must be a descendant of a veteran who has served 90 days of active duty and has been honorably discharged from the service. Erman Taylor Memorial Education Scholarship-seniors majoring in education who are descendants of an American Legion or American Legion Auxillary member are eligible. Go to www.missourilegion.org for the application.

 

Charles Bacon Memorial Scholarship-open to any senior who is a descendant of an American Legion or American Legion Auxillary member. Go to www.missourilegion.org for an application.

 

Joseph Frank Boy's/Girl's State Scholarship-available to any senior who attended Boy's or Girl's State. Applicants must be a descendant of a veteran who served 90 days of active duty and were honorably discharged. Go to www.missourilegion.org for an application to the $500 award.

 

Lillie Lois Ford Scholarship-open to seniors who have attended Missouri Boy's/Girl's State Program or the Cadet Patrol Academy. Applicants must be a descendant of a veteran who served 90 days on active duty and was honorably discharged. The application for the $1,000 award is at www.missourilegion.org.

 

Jack Murphy Memorial Nurses Training Scholarship-seniors who are in the top 40% of the class and declare nursing as a major are eligible for this $750 award if they are a descendant of a veteran who has served 90 days on active duty and was honorably discharged. University Bound Scholarship-seniors who will be attending UMSL in the fall and have completed at least one dual credit course through UMSL, can apply for a $3,000 renewable scholarship. Go to ww.umsl.edu/divisions/conted/acp/acp_scholarship09.html to complete the application packet.

 

Robert J. Trulaske, Sr Scholarship-seniors going to the University of Missouri- Columbia who are enrolled in the College of Business may apply for the $7,000 award. Students who do not meet the qualifications of the upper level merit scholarships and rank in the upper two-thirds but outside the top ten percent are given preference. The Christian Connector Inc-offers 4 different levels of scholarship for seniors who will be attending a Christ-centered university in the fall. Details can be found at www.christianconnector.com for the $1,000-$2,500 awards.

 

SAE Engineering Scholarship Program-seniors planning on majoring in engineering or a related science can apply for any of the scholarships offered through this program. Awards range in value from $400 to full-tuition for full details and application go to www.sae.org/students/engschlr.htm.

 

AXA Achievement Scholarship-seniors who demonstrate outstanding achievement in the classroom, their community/workplace. Award values vary from$10,000-$25,000. Go to www.axa-achievement.com for application and complete details.

 

U.S. Bank Internet Scholarship Program-a random drawing in which 30 seniors who entered the drawing will be chosen to receive $1,000. The scholarship drawing application can be found at ww.usbank.com/studentbanking.

 

Hillsboro Community Civic Club-any graduating senior can apply for this $1,000 award. Must have satisfactory citizenship and have financial need, See Mr. K. Allen for an application.

 

Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis-a foundation that offers interest-free loans to financially needy students to help pay for college. Students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA to apply for the loan Call 314.725.7990 for an application.

 

Student-View Scholarship Program-a random drawing will be made from all applicants who complete a 15-20 minute survey of colleges in our area. Complete the survey at www.student-view.com

 

Arnold Chamber of Commerce-Fox seniors can apply for the $1,000 award. Students will be judged across several criteria such as financial need, volunteerism and achievement. Applications are available in the guidance office.

William Pauly Scholarship-available to all students between the age of 16-18. An essay and evaluation of the application will be used for determining the award recipient. This award is available at www.centurycu.org and in the guidance office. Membership to Century Credit Union is NOT a requirement.

 

Jefferson County Democratic Club-this $500 award is available to any senior with a 3.0 GPA over the last four semesters. Financial need, essay, grade point, and activities will be used to determine the award recipient.  Applications are available in the guidance office.

 

Talk to Tammy Follow Your Dream Scholarship-available to any senior who displays some academic ability, but because of disadvantages such as family income, work responsibilities or other challenges the student was unable to earn top grades.

Kurt Leo Koenig Vocational/Technical Scholarship-is available to a student with a minimum 2.0 GPA and will enroll in a vocational program at a trade school or community college. The application for the $1,500 award is available in the guidance office.

FAFSA Frenzy at DeVry University: On February 12, 2011 from 10:00 AM to 12:00PM. Four $1,000.00 scholarships will be given to students attending the event statewide. Winners will receive their scholarships upon receipt of enrollment verification for the 2011 fall semester at a Missouri postsecondary institution. Families who bring their completed 2010 income tax returns to a FAFSA Frenzy event will be able to complete the 2011-2012 FAFSA on site.
